Buckhead is one of the "nation's best sub cities," according to a report on America's top cities. "Emerging Trends in Real Estate" (sponsored by Lend Lease Real Estate Investments and PricewaterhouseCoopers) compared the area's vibrant residential-commercial mix and 24-hour flavor to San Francisco, New York and Boston. "Buckhead, where affluence, prosperity and entertainment commingle, is one of Atlanta's most attractive business areas.
There are also plans to redevelop the area into upscale streetscapes reminiscent of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Ben Carter, the Atlanta developer, plan involves most of the land by Peachtree Road to the west and north, Pharr Road to the south and North Fulton Drive to the east, including stretches of Buckhead Avenue and East Paces Ferry Road. It has been rumored that there has been strong interest in The Streets of Buckhead from high-end retailers who typically avoid mall locations. The plan include three parking decks tucked behind buildings so as to be less visible from the street; a mid-rise boutique hotel and at least one mixed-use high-rise in the neighborhood of 20 stories.
Buckhead has seen an emerging trend of more townhomes over the years. What is a townhome? A townhome is normally a row of attached homes with similar or same design. Townhome owners generally own the complete unit, including exterior surfaces and the land on which the unit is built. Condominium unit owners only own the inside of their units.
